The Elverhoy Museum opened to the public in May of 1988. It is housed in the former residence of the artistic Brandt-Erichsen family.  It is one of the few museums outside Denmark devoted solely to the Danish culture and the Danish-American experience.  Photos

Name Elverhoj was taken from Denmark's most famous folk play (written in 1828 and still performed).  The name translates as "elves on a hill".  The story involves a King's visit to the night world of the dancing female wood spirits.  (See Photo click here for -  The wood carving on the front door of the museum.  It  was carved by Viggo Brandt-Erichsen depicting  Elverhoj.)
