*We had a great time at the NSRA Street Rod
Nationals in Louisville and we have lots of
pictures for you. There are 2360 pictures online
already and more to come. This is where
you'll get the most comprehensive car show coverage
on the web! Thanks a bunch to our
great Roving Reporters! Joe Mayall of the NSRA told
us that the car count was 11,333,
not a record but very respectable! We saw many old
friends but just didn't get to spend as
much time as we would like with them. The time just
flies and pretty soon we're all leaving
and it seems like we just got there! Next week we
will be publishing a tour of the New
Product Exhibit as well as a "Virtual Tour" of the
entire exhibit. (Jack Lawford) See

*Editor's notes: The following
information was shared with us by Mark Breznay:
1) The 1967
NASCAR Summernationals Program, which
celebrates its 38th anniversary starting this Thurs-
day. Thanks to George Lucas for this program. 2) We
now have a Niagara Falls NY forum called
"First And Falls," for present and former residents of
that "fair" city. Have something to say about
Niagara Falls, or the surrounding area? Post it
there. 3) We are now up to 84 members and
growing slowly. Many of you on this email list have
previously been members. Why not rejoin? 4)
Our message board runs in spurts. We'll get a sudden
spate of action and then it will be quiet for a
few days. If you choose to sign up and why wouldn't you want to? Please visit often and have your
say-so on our message board, as that is the best way I
know of, to make the site grow. 5) We are
always looking for Niagara Dragstrip photos, so if you
have em, scan em & send em this way.
Specifically, I am looking for a front view of Jerry Hamam's shop on Lockport Road. Finally, we
are still looking for the Bardahl "villains" of
yesteryear. Specifically, "Gummy Rings," "Sticky
Valves" and "Dirty Sludge." Also, there is an image
of those three, plus "Blacky Carbon" peering
out from under the hood of a car that I'd like to get
my hands on. I have 2 versions of "Blacky,"
plus the detective, "Mr Bardahl," so if you find those, go ahead and send them, because they might
be different from what I already have. You'll find the
link to the site below. Til next time! See

*I just got back home (Salt Lake City area) from
the salt. I had been camping (well, sleep-
ing in my "Ugly Truck") at the bend in the road
and the all-night rain kinda convinced me
that there probably wouldn't be a lot going on
in the next little while. I may return tomor-
row. As far as the weather goes, the rain was
pretty much steady all night (at least as
much as I remember of it...I tried to get a
little sleep in between fireworks explosions from
the other side of the canal.) The clay at the
bend was really slippery this morning and the
rain was falling steadily. I didn't go out to
the salt, but rather went to the truck stop where
many racers were gathered, some at the Salt
Flats Cafe, some just standing outside under
the roof's overhang, trying to stay out of the
rain. When I got back I checked the weather
forecast for Wendover:
http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/total_forecast/index.php?wfo=slc&zone=utz003&county=utc045
and it looks like it's supposed to get clear and sunny again on Wednesday....with the possib-
ility of some showers early, followed by
clearing and mostly sunny conditions. Temperat-
ures are forecast in the mid 80s for the
remainder of the week. I have no idea how this
will affect the course or if a new, smoother
course can be laid out when the rain stops and
things dry out a bit. My impression is that the
mood of the meet has been dampened by
John Beckett's death, the
course conditions and now the rain. I hope things
will smooth
out (literally) after the salt dries a bit. See
