*I am currently working on getting my Russian racing driver
Sergey Shleikin set to do a one-off
drive with Sam Schmidt Motorsports for the Infiniti Pro race at
Infineon Raceway the weekend
of August 26-28. Sergey was born and raised in Uzbekistan (then a
part of Russia). he came to
America when he was 12 years old. He attended school here in
California and classes at Delta
College in Palo Alto. Sergey has raced in the ESPN Russell School
Racing Series and the
Barber Dodge Pro Series. 2004 found Sergey racing in the Palmer Audi
Racing Series in
Europe. He raced at Monza, the Nurburgring, Silverstone and Spa-Francorchamps,
garnering a
sixth overall in the final standings. He has spent this past season
working on his interim 2005 and
2006 program. He would like to compete in the 2006 Formula Renault
UK Series and progress
through Formula Three and GP-2 into Formula One! As you can guess,
we are currently fishing
for the budget to do the Infineon Raceway event to gain attention
for Sergey's racing efforts. We
believe that he will be able to attract attention as the first
Russian to compete in any American
Open Wheel Championship and because he is bi-lingual, speak to the
many expatriate Russians
and Russian-Americans living in the United States. the race will be
delayed broadcast on
Thursday, 9/1/05, 3pm.(EDT) 12pm. (PDT) on ESPN2. If any of you can
offer help or direction
and guidance, I would greatly appreciate it. Time is of the
Essence! (Gil Bouffard)
